Job Summary
Member of a software engineering team responsible for assessing quality of file system backup and recovery services using replication technology.
Essential Functions
- Working as part of a focused data protection engineering team (Enterprise Data Management).
- The candidate will review product requirements & design/functional specifications to scope testing requirements, Work with QA and Development groups to develop test plans and strategies, provide feedback information and design new test cases.
- Participates and Leads in design, development, verification & trouble shooting of system/subsystem
- Work with external partners and drive issues to closure
- Communicate progress and escalate issues to management in a timely manner
- Works on difficult problems of a broad scope
- Seeks out expertise, knowledge, and resources to develop solutions to problems
- Exercises independent judgment to determine the methods & procedures for new assignments
- Executes tests, reviews and reports results, works with Development groups to identify and resolve problems. Perform functional, load, performance, scalability tests as required. Perform regression test and verify bugs fixes for maintenance releases.
- Interact with and influence development teams and other organizations in the responsible areas.
- The job requires creating automated test scripts to reduce testing time.
- A working knowledge of contemporary backup and recovery principles/techniques
- Good knowledge of test methodologies like black-white box, integration, system testing
- Good knowledge in scalability and performance testing and knows how to design tests in these areas.
- Good knowledge of networking , storage and system concepts
- Excellent Trouble Shooting skills
- Work as a technical advisor to the engineering management
- Excellent team player. Ability to interact with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lead projects with 2-3 people
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic work environment
- Has expertise in Designing/executing test cases and creating test beds
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience In NDMP based backup and restore
- Proficiency in scripting using Perl or other scripting languages like TCL – Expect or Shell scripting
- Experience in working on one or more of the 3 platforms – Windows, Solaris, Linux
- Relevant experience of 8+ years
- Experience of back up/ replication/ disaster recovery products.
