HP Event Management Operations Engineer

Position Background

The scope of activities for Tools and Automation – Operations Engineer Role includes, but is not limited to:
• Verification of OS and Platform compatibility with the defined HP OM FMO tools/software
• Participation in due diligence, functional gap analysis, and detailed migration planning process
• Installation and configuration experience with 1 or more of the following of HP OM FMO products
• HP Data Protector
• HP Operations Manager for Unix 8.x
• HP Operations Manager for Windows 8.x
• HP Network Node Manager 8.x
• HP Openview Reporter 3.8
• HP Openview Performance Manager 8.2x

Technical Requirements

Applicant must have the following skills /experience:

• Must have experience installing/configuring the following HP Openview products for new/existing clients in accordance with defined standards/best practices.
• Must be able to deploy/configure standard monitoring solutions and/or SPI’s as required
• Must be able to effectively gather requirements, develop, document and deploy monitoring solutions in full compliance with HP Global Engineering Quality Management System (GE QMS) requirements
• Must be proficient in the development of new and support of existing scripts written in either PERL or KSH.
• ITIL Certification required

• Experience with other HP BTO products preferred
• Must have solid command of the English language both written and verbally.
• Must be available to attend meetings and complete work assignments on the timeline defined by the project mgmt team or project leader. Where necessary, this may require work during NA business day, over weekends or holidays as required.
• Must be able to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and levels of expertise
• Must be able to effectively work with actual client personnel
• Must be a self-starter; able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work in a global virtual team with indirect and matrix management
• Must participate in and contribute to peer reviews of infrastructure server designs
• Must apply and contribute to emerging and evolving standards

Education and Experience Required:

5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (8+ years in total).

Knowledge and Skills:

• Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to design and scope multiple deliverables across a number of technologies.
• Ability to develop solutions that enhance the availability, performance, maintainability and agility of a particular customer’s enterprise. Has contributed to the design and application of new tools. Ability to re-use existing experience to develop new solutions to take to market.
• Possesses an understanding, at a detailed level, of architectural dependencies of technologies in use in the customer’s IT environment. Frequently uses product and application knowledge along with internals or architectural knowledge to develop solutions. A recognized expert in one or more technologies within own technical community and also at regional level. Holds a vendor or industry certification in at least one discipline area.
• Able to communicate with internal and external senior management confidently and demonstrate the professionalism of the job family.
• Ability to work in a multi-technology environment with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause. In addition to troubleshooting skills and consulting skills, has ability to summarize prognosis and impact at practice lead level. Ability to adapt a consulting style appropriate to the situation and can identify up-sell opportunities.
• Ability to present within own area of expertise as part of a customer sales presentation, putting forward domain-specific information within the context of an HP sales campaign. Has demonstrated ability to lead others in the gathering of requirements, designs, plans and estimates. Able to produce complete proposals for smaller engagements within own area of expertise.
• Demonstrates broad knowledge in other technical areas in order to properly manage complex integration efforts. Demonstrates application of technical expertise in successful engagements involving multiple disciplines.

Scope and Impact

Assists with multiple customers. May participate in cross-functional initiatives. Sustained and consistent contribution at the work group level. Leads technically significant work on enterprise scale projects. Is recognized by peers as an expert in a particular area of technology.

Complexity:

Medium to large project/programs, multiple client sites and management organizations.

Aspirant should be ready to work in configuration/implementation/Designing/Support.
Aspirants will be working initially into support later shifted to design and implementation as and when required.
Should be flexible to work on shifts
